As a longtime renter, I find that certain home trends appear inaccessible and luxe. Take maximalism and organic modernism. These designs demand a level of commitment and permanence reserved for those who can dig in with major upgrades and thoughtful décor. For a transient like me, big investments in design have to wait for the forever home. It’s too unlikely that the furniture in my current space will fit as well in the next one, or that the fabrics and décor will complement the wall color. So, how can I take big leaps and invest in “forever décor?”

That was my long-held view, until I scrolled upon the Flower Home Collection by Drew Barrymore – for Walmart!

The Flower Home Collection boasts over 200 items, from wall art to accent chairs and luxurious dog beds. It’s been called “mid-century,” “boho” and “eclectic.” What I see here, upon close and eager inspection, is a mixture of inspired items that are vintage, maximalist, pattern-rich, eccentrically textured and even reminiscent of the 90s (I mean, if you had the childhood I had).

Imagine reading an immersive novel by this sophisticated Human Dog print.

Ever since I came across this collection, it’s been on my mind, and it’s changing the way I think about decorating as a renter. Can I use these pieces to bring that stylish, designer flair from one rental to another? Can I get that maximalist look without sentencing myself to a strenuous move-out week? Best of all, when I do finally land in a forever home, is this the furniture and décor worth holding onto?

I think so, and I’m not even being sponsored for this article. I just can’t help myself, and I wanted to share.

These pieces fit together so effortlessly, in spite of how bold and unique they are individually. This level of collection curation takes a real eye for color and harmony!

One of the most intriguing qualities of this collection is its familiarity. It’s familiar in the way of that one uncharacteristic display at a roadside museum; or your mother’s infatuation with saturated greens; or that hotel in Maine that you couldn’t check out of fast enough – but in a good way!

If you’re head-over-heels at the sight of this collection, see if you can fit a few pieces into your budget and create that luxe look in your home. These items are selling fast, and many of them have the option to make payments, so you can invest in your “forever couch,” or your “forever side table,” for a manageable monthly amount.

*Price-wise, this collection falls closer to Wayfair. The pieces cost less than with companies like JoyBird, but still more than you might expect from Walmart.

This Georgia Peach accent table and Parisian Pink velvet track arm sofa capture the soft essence of one of the latest “neutrals.”
